- It is a national recommendation that students don’t begin testing until the second part of their junior year of high school. That being said, every student is unique, therefore, some students may begin testing sooner.
- The ACT tends to be the more favored test of our students and the state of Missouri as it is predominantly a “midwest test”. Students can, however, take the SAT as well or in place of the ACT. Either test is accepted for college admission purposes.
- It is recommended to take the ACT 3-4 times by December of Senior year.
- All juniors will take the ACT here at IWA during the school day. This will take place in spring of junior year.
- Remember to have test scores sent to the colleges your daughter is interested in applying and NCAA or NAIA if interested in playing a college sport. IWA does not send test scores to colleges. Official scores must be sent through ACT. You can send your score to 4 colleges for free. There is a fee after four.
- Be sure to put in our IWA High School Code (262-435) when registering.
Some students benefit from test prep classes or practice tests/questions. Below are several options to prepare for the ACT. Please note that the national recommendation is to take ACT prep after taking the ACT at least once. Test prep can be more effective after taking the ACT and most students take prep classes spring of junior year or summer after junior year. Prep classes can also be taken first semester senior year.
